The poor and middle class work for money, but the rich have money work for them.
That’s what Robert says. But is it true? Let’s go back a few years to understand why he said this.
One day, when Robert was just a boy carrying a school bag, he felt hurt because he and his friend weren’t invited to a trip. The rich kids said it was because they were poor. So Robert asked his father, “Dad, how can I get rich?”
His father replied, “If you want to be rich, you have to learn how to make money and use your head.”
This book is about Robert and his best friend, Mike. They felt left out because the rich kids had nicer things, so they tried to make money themselves. Their first idea was to melt down old toothpaste tubes and make lead coins.
But when Robert’s father found out, he explained it was illegal to make money like that. Even though their first “business” failed, he was proud that they tried and encouraged them to keep going.
He also told the boys to learn how money really works. He suggested that they talk to Mike’s father, who was a businessman.
Mike was surprised. He wondered why, if his father was so brilliant, he didn’t have a fancy car or a big house like the rich kids. Robert’s father explained that just because someone has expensive things doesn’t mean they’re truly wealthy. Sometimes those things come from a company, and the person doesn’t own them.
Mike’s father, on the other hand, was different. He was building businesses that would make him truly wealthy in the future. This gave the boys new hope.
They decided to ask Mike’s father to teach them how to make money. They set a date to meet him and learn from him.
