India’s agriculture and fisheries exports have reached ₹4.5 lakh crore (US$ 52.58 billion) and can grow to ₹20 lakh crore (US$ 233.67 billion) with focus on food processing, branding, and packaging, said Union Minister Piyush Goyal. He highlighted exports of non-traditional products like jamun, litchi, pineapple, and bottle gourd, with jamun going to the UK and litchi to Doha and Dubai. He noted India’s growing Gulf market presence and global recognition of millets through the International Year of Millets. He stressed building a strong agricultural supply chain, promoting water conservation via drip irrigation and energyefficient pumps to reduce costs and boost productivity. The government supports organic farming with blockchain certification, improved packaging, and infrastructure through e-NAM, Agriculture Infrastructure Fund, and Drone Didi programme, aiming to raise farmer income and achieve self-reliance.
