India has sanctioned Rs. 300 crore (US$ 35.14 million) for over 111 research projects to advance 6G technology, placing the country among the top six globally in 6G patent filings. At the BHARAT 6G 2025 conference, Minister Dr. Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani announced that 6G, operating at TeraHertz frequencies, will offer speeds 100 times faster than 5G. He emphasized India’s potential to lead in 6G, citing its skilled workforce and early progress. By 2035, indigenous 6G is projected to boost the economy by Rs. 85,37,000 crore (US$ 1 trillion), ensuring secure connectivity and fostering new industries.
