Summary:

On June 23, 2025, APEDA, under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, and Punjab's Department of Horticulture launched India's first export of rose-scented litchi from Pathankot to Doha and Dubai. A metric tonne was shipped to Qatar and half a tonne to the UAE, marking a significant milestone in India's horticulture exports. The cargo, arranged by Lulu Group and farmer Prabhat Singh, demonstrates India's expanding position in global fruit markets. Punjab provided 71,490 metric tonnes of litchi in FY24, accounting for 12.39% of total national output. India's fruit and vegetable exports was Rs. 33,085 crore (US$ 3.87 billion) in FY25. APEDA's activities promote foreign market access, increase farmer income, and strengthen India's agricultural competitiveness.
