According to a research by foundit Insights Tracker (FIT), employment in India's IT sector increased by 16% year on year in April, owing to AI adoption, cloud modernisation, and the establishment of Global Capability Centres (GCCs). In FY25, GCCs created over 1.1 million IT jobs, driven by increased demand for areas like as data engineering, DevOps, and enterprise architecture. Skill-based hiring dominated, with 62% of companies prioritising practical experience over formal degrees. AI/ML, cloud computing, cybersecurity, and data analytics were among the most sought-after skills. Cities such as Coimbatore, Ahmedabad, and Baroda had significant development, while metro centres such as Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Delhi NCR dominated recruiting for leadership positions. The IT sector's resurgence is positioned for long-term expansion, fuelled by innovation.
