Summary:

India’s gross Goods and Services Tax (GST) collection for FY25 reached a new high of Rs. 22,08,000 crore (US$ 257 billion), up 9.4% year on year. The monthly average collection amounted at Rs. 1,84,000 crore. In FY21, GST receipts totalled Rs. 11,37,000 crore, with a monthly average of Rs. 95,000 crore. On April 30, 2025, India has 1.51 crore active GST registrations. Annual receipts increased steadily: Rs 14,83,000 crore in FY22, Rs 18,08,000 crore in FY23, and Rs 20,18,000 crore in FY24. In May 2025 alone, GST increased by 16.4% to Rs. 2,01,000 crore. Domestic transactions totalled Rs. 1,50,000 crore, while imports totalled Rs. 51,266 crore. Refunds fell 4% to Rs. 27,210 crore, while IGST, CGST, and SGST were at Rs. 1,09,000, Rs. 35,434, and Rs. 43,902 crore, respectively.
