Union Minister Pralhad Joshi declared that the government of India wants to build rooftop solar plants in one crore (10 million) houses by 2026-27 as part of the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana (PM-SGMBY). The system, which was launched in February 2024, is being implemented in all states and union territories, with capacity assigned based on demand. In addition, the PM-KUSUM initiative encourages decentralised renewable energy use. Madhya Pradesh will have installed 11,279.39 MW of renewable capacity by June 30, 2025, which includes solar, wind, biofuel, and hydro. CEEW and TERI studies predict that 13 lakh employment would be created by June 2025. Over 31,829 youngsters have been taught through skill programs such as Suryamitra. Eight solar farms totalling 4,248 MW have also been approved in Madhya Pradesh.
