To enhance cotton output and quality in accordance with Vision 2030, the Indian government created a five-year 'Mission for Cotton output, which was unveiled in the Union Budget 2025 - 26. The emphasis is on producing climateresilient, pest-resistant, and high-yielding types, particularly Extra Long Staple (ELS) cotton, employing sophisticated biotechnology. A comparable ICAR-CICR initiative is being carried out in eight states via the National Food Security and Nutrition Mission. The ₹6 crore allocation aims to support farmers through technology and training. The objective is consistent with the 5F vision - Farm to Fibre to Factory to Fashion to Foreign - which aims to increase global competitiveness.
