Summary:

According to a JLL India report, India's green warehousing sector is quickly expanding, with certified sustainable warehouse stock expected to increase from 65 million square feet in 2024 to 270 million square feet by 2030. Grade A warehousing has grown 2.5 times in five years, reaching 238 million square feet. Institutional-grade storage has increased to 90 million square feet, driven by investor interest and environmental certifications such as LEED, IGBC, and GRIHA, as contemporary infrastructure need rises.

Around 72% (65 million square feet) of institutional Grade A warehouse assets has either been green-certified or is in the process of being certified, with this figure predicted to treble by 2030. Institutional investors are spearheading the transformation, with over 45% of their portfolios accredited and another 20% in the process. Green warehouses are helping corporate occupiers achieve their net-zero targets. By 2030, India's storage industry would be 885 million square feet, with 80% of institutional supply projected to be environmentally friendly.
