Summary:

Mr. Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister, inaugurated India's second-longest cable-stayed bridge at Sigandur, Shivamogga District, Karnataka. The ₹472 crore (US$ 54.88 million) bridge spans the Sharavathi backwaters between Ambaragodlu and Kalasavalli, improving communication for Sagara town and adjacent villages, particularly for pilgrims visiting the Chowdeshwari shrine. The bridge, which has been long sought since road connections were lost as a result of the Linganmakki dam in the 1960s, would replace coracles and ferry services. It is expected to increase tourism, accessibility, and the local economy. Union Minister Pralhad Joshi and BJP leader B.S. Yediyurappa attended the ceremony as well.
