Summary:

India suggested the worldwide Cities Coalition for Circularity (C3) platform to promote circular economy adoption by bringing together cities, academics, and technological entrepreneurs. The C3 platform, announced by Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar at the 12th Regional 3R and Circular Economy Forum, intends to be a multi-stakeholder, transnational coalition that shares information, technical skills, and best practices in resource efficiency and waste management.

Mr. Manohar Lal Khattar, Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs, emphasised the urgent need to embrace circular processes, citing the growing waste output caused by rapid industrialisation and consumerism. He pushed for combining contemporary technology and ancient practices to increase recycling and resource efficiency. The Centre identified 11 waste-reducing industries, including liquid waste management and lithium battery recycling. Mr. Bhajan Lal Sharma, Rajasthan's Chief Minister, emphasised the need of long-term conservation initiatives.
