
Summary:
According to NPCI Chief Mr. Dilip Asbe, around 16% of credit card spending occurs on the RuPay network, with over half of these transactions using credit via the Unified Payments Interface (UPI). More than 30 banks issue RuPay cards. In FY25, RuPay credit on UPI processed over 750 million transactions totaling Rs. 63,825.8 crore (US$ 7.30 billion), up from Rs. 33,439.2 crore in FY24.
NPCI is establishing a 500,000-square-foot global headquarters at Mumbai's Bandra-Kurla Complex, with an R&D capacity for 5,000 people to support worldwide expansion. The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has allocated land for this project. AI is a top priority, with NPCI International Payments (NIPL) leading the global rollout. UPI will soon be available in countries like Qatar and Thailand, and is already accepted in seven nations through 20 apps
