Summary:

The Odisha government is expanding its tourism strategy to position the state as a top destination for weddings and MICE, in addition to focusing on temple and Buddhist tourism. With attractions such as its coastline, historic temples, wildlife, ecotourism sites, and scenic locations, Odisha aims to compete with established destinations like Rajasthan, Goa, and Kerala. Beach towns like Puri, Konark, and Gopalpur will be promoted as year-round event venues with luxury hotels.

Odisha's tourism department has developed eco-retreats in Konark, Satkosia, Bhitarkanika, Daringbadi, Hirakud, Sonapur, and Putsil, ideal for destination weddings and MICE activities. These retreats offer luxurious tents, cottages, large halls, and guest accommodations. Visitors can enjoy water sports, wildlife excursions, beach sports, and cultural performances. The government encourages private and OTDC hotels to host these events. However, industry leaders are calling for infrastructure development to meet the demands of high-profile tourism.
