In July 2024, Indian airlines transported over 12.9 million passengers, marking a 7.3% increase compared to the previous year but a decrease from June's 13.2 million. From January to July 2024, passenger numbers rose by 4.7%.
Despite the increase in passenger traffic, July faced significant operational challenges. Cancellations affected 154,770 passengers, resulting in Rs. 110.59 lakh (US$ 131,816) in compensation. Flight delays impacted 320,302 passengers, leading to Rs. 341.05 lakh (US$ 406,474) in costs. The cancellation rate was 1.90%, with 1,097 complaints filed, equating to 0.84 complaints per 10,000 passengers.
