Summary:

On December 21, 2024, Union Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya announced that India's employment had increased by 36%, reaching 64.33 crore in 2023-24, up from 47.15 crore in 2014-15, reflecting job growth during the NDA period. Employment under the UPA rose by only 7% between 2004 and 2014. According to RBI data, the figure grew from 44.23 crore in 2014 to 47.15 crore in 2023-24. Since 2014, the NDA has created 17.19 crore jobs.

 

Employment in agriculture fell by 16% from 2004 to 2014, but increased by 19% from 2014 to 2023. The manufacturing sector saw a 6% rise from 2004 to 2014 and a 15% increase from 2014 to 2023. Services employment rose by 25% from 2004 to 2014 and by 36% from 2014 to 2023. Unemployment dropped from 6% in 2017-18 to 3.2% in 2023-24, while the employment rate increased from 46.8% to 58.2%. The labor force participation rate rose from 49.8% to 60.1%.
