Summary:

In October 2024, the Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana (PMBJP) exceeded last year’s target of ₹1,000 crore (US$119 million) by a significant margin. With over 14,000 Jan Aushadhi Kendras nationwide, PMBJP has gained public trust by providing affordable, high-quality medicines and reducing healthcare costs. In September 2024, PMBI reported monthly sales of ₹200 crore (US$23.8 million).

 

Over the past decade, Jan Aushadhi Kendras have expanded from 80 in 2014 to over 14,000, covering nearly every district. The government aims to establish 25,000 Kendras by 2026. These Kendras offer 2,047 medicines and 300 surgical devices across key therapeutic areas and attract around 1 million visitors daily, highlighting their role in providing affordable healthcare and lowering out-of-pocket medical expenses for citizens nationwide.
