Summary:

The Union Cabinet approved 20 million new rural houses under PMAY-Grameen for 2025-2028. Assistance per unit remains US$ 1,429 (Rs. 1,20,000) for plain areas and US$ 1,548 (Rs. 1,30,000) for hilly regions.

 

An earlier proposal to raise assistance to US$ 2,382 (Rs. 2,00,000) for plain areas and US$ 2,620 (Rs. 2,20,000) for hilly regions was rejected. The new plan adds to nearly 30 million houses built in the past decade. A US$ 36.77 billion (Rs. 3.06 trillion) outlay for FY25-FY29 includes US$ 24.63 billion central and US$ 12.02 billion state shares.
