Summary:
The Department of Consumer Affairs has successfully deployed the E-Daakhil portal across all Indian states and union territories, with Ladakh joining on November 22, 2024. Launched in September FY20 in response to COVID-19, the portal provides consumers with a paperless, efficient platform for filing grievances. With 281,024 registered users and 198,725 cases submitted, it significantly improves access to justice, particularly in remote areas.
The E-Daakhil platform has demonstrated its effectiveness through successful case resolutions. In January FY24, the Sambalpur District Commission awarded US$ 296.26 (Rs. 25,000) for a faulty electric vehicle, and the Andaman District Commission refunded US$ 47.17 (Rs. 3,980) for a double fuel charge. The government is preparing to launch the e-Jagriti platform, which will enhance case filing and dispute resolution, improve communication, and transform India's consumer rights landscape.
