Summary:
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh emphasized the expanding role of the private sector in India's economy, stating that it now drives economic growth. At the inauguration of a new Sainik School at Shri Bhawani Niketan Public School, he noted that these schools are operated using the PublicPrivate Partnership (PPP) model, which is a departure from traditional management. Singh mentioned that Sainik schools will impart key values such as discipline and patriotism, while also highlighting the private sector's growing importance in manufacturing and services, as agriculture employs more than half of the workforce.
He expressed optimism that the PPP model in education will combine the strengths of both the private and public sectors, resulting in high-quality education for future generations. He emphasized India's longstanding dedication to diverse subjects such as science, mathematics, and the arts, and stated that the New Education Policy will empower students. Diya Kumari, the Deputy Chief Minister of Rajasthan, and Minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore attended the event. Last year, the Union government approved 100 Sainik schools in collaboration with NGOs, private institutions, and state governments, starting from Class 6. In September 2023, a Memorandum of Agreement was signed to establish the new Sainik School.
