Summary:

According to a recent LocalCircles poll, one in every two Indian households intends to spend more than US$ 119.57 (Rs. 10,000) this festive season, with over 70% choosing physical stores over online shopping. The poll, which included 49,000 families from 342 urban districts, found that 44% came from Tier I cities, 34% from Tier II, and 22% from Tier III to V districts. Spending insights indicate that 44% of urban families would spend more than US$ 1,195.66 (Rs. 100,000), totaling US$ 22.12 billion (Rs. 1.85 lakh crore) in 2024.

 

In terms of shopping habits, 70% of urban families want to visit physical stores, while only 13% plan to use e-commerce platforms. Key buying concerns include budget/value (46%), product quality (43%), selection (8%), and convenience (3%). Expected expenditure categories include Pooja/Diwali supplies (70%), festival groceries (64%), beauty and fashion (38%), home décor (40%), smartphones and gadgets (22%), white goods (18%), jewellery (4%), and automobiles (4%). This reflects the seasonal shopping tendencies of urban Indian households.
