Summary:

Delhi's wedding season has begun, with traders anticipating US$ 71.38 billion in commerce. The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) predicts this figure for the season, which started on Dev Uthani Ekadasi and will last for 18 days. Approximately 4.5 lakh weddings are expected during this period, with 50,000 already celebrated on the first day, marking the start of a busy season that will continue until December 16th.

The wedding season is expected to boost sales of apparel, jewellery, décor, electronics, and catering. Mr. Praveen Khandelwal, CAIT Secretary General, mentioned that businesses are preparing for increased demand, which could lead to job creation. Mr. Brijesh Goyal, Chairman of the Chamber of Trade and Industry, reported a 40% rise in venue bookings. To manage the additional traffic, the Delhi Traffic Police have implemented specific measures, such as encroachment removal and crane deployments for illegally parked vehicles.
