Alternative investment platform

Summary:

The Department of Consumer Affairs is developing eMaap, a unified National Legal Metrology Portal, to integrate State Legal Metrology Departments. It streamlines licence issuance, verifications, and compliance management while eliminating multiple registrations. By centralising data, eMaap enhances transparency, improves enforcement, reduces administrative burdens, and fosters ease of business for traders, manufacturers, and other stakeholders.

A consultation series shaped eMaap's development, with the latest on November 28, 2024, involving industry associations like FICCI and ASSOCHAM, and State Legal Metrology Departments. The portal simplifies licence issuance, renewal, amendments, and instrument verification under the Legal Metrology Act, 2009. It enhances efficiency, promotes manufacturing growth, reduces paperwork, and supports transparent, data-driven governance frameworks.
