A High-Level Committee led by Union Home Minister Amit Shah authorized US$ 132.4 million for disaster relief and capacity-building programs. The National Landslide Risk Mitigation initiative, costing US$ 118.7 million, will cover 15 states, including Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, and the northeast. Additionally, US$ 13.7 million will be allocated for training Civil Defence volunteers. The projects are funded through the National Disaster Mitigation Fund and the National Disaster Response Fund.
To support Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of a disaster-resilient India, the Ministry of Home Affairs, under Union Home Minister Amit Shah, has taken significant steps to enhance disaster risk management. In FY22-23, around US$ 2.55 billion (Rs. 21,476 crore) was disbursed to states, including funds from SDRF, NDRF, SDMF, and NDMF. Additionally, US$ 364.9 million has been granted for urban flood risk management, and US$ 17.8 million for Glacial Lake Outburst Flood risk mitigation.
