The Uttar Pradesh government is drafting a new export policy to increase the state's contribution to India's exports. With 2022-23 goods exports estimated at Rs. 1,76,935 crore (US$ 20.67 billion), Uttar Pradesh aims to raise its contribution to 7.5% of India's total exports from 4.71%. Renowned industries include Banarasi silk sarees, Bhadohi carpets, Lucknow chikan embroidery, Kanpur leather products, and Agra footwear. Provisions include incentives for job creation, marketing support, air freight discounts, and international certification assistance. The state aims to reach Rs. 3,00,000 crore (US$ 35.05 billion) in exports within two to three years, with infrastructure development improving connectivity and logistics for better market access.
