Summary:

According to Microsoft research, 65% of surveyed Indians use AI, more than double the global average of 31%. The Global Online Safety Survey (July 19 – August 9, 2024), conducted across 15 nations, found that India leads in AI adoption for translations, answering queries, workplace efficiency, and student assistance. Millennials (ages 25–44) are the most active users, with 84% reporting AI usage. Indian parents are also becoming more aware of their children's digital concerns.

Despite enthusiasm for AI, concerns persist regarding online misuse, deepfakes, scams, and AI hallucinations, mirroring global anxieties. Over 80% of respondents worry about AI use among children under 18, and a similar percentage of Indian teenagers have encountered online risks. As AI expands in India, balancing innovation with safety is crucial to protecting users, especially young individuals, from potential harm.
