Summary:

According to SEBI data, the United States held the largest share of Foreign Portfolio Investors (FPIs) in India in FY24, with 3,457 of the 11,219 registered FPIs. Luxembourg followed with 1,393, and Canada with 804, reflecting a modest overall increase.

 

SEBI's report indicated a 42.8% rise in FPIs' Assets Under Custody (AUC), reaching US$ 828.17 billion by March 31, 2024, up from US$ 580.31 billion the previous year. This surge highlights growing international investor confidence in India's markets. Equity assets comprised 92.2% of the AUC, with the United States contributing 39.2%, Singapore 9.8%, and Luxembourg 7.1%. Notably, FPI inflows in 2023-24 were the highest since 1992-93.
