Summary:

The outlook for the real estate industry among UHNIs and HNIs has softened, with 62% planning investments in the next 12-24 months, down from 71% in 2024. According to the India Sotheby's International Realty (ISIR) survey, 50% predict returns of 12% to 18%, while 38% expect returns of less than 12%. Optimism has dropped from 79% in 2024 to 71% in 2025, although the majority still view India as the fastest-growing major economy.

 

In 2025, 55% of respondents plan to invest in luxury residential real estate, up from 44% in 2024, citing capital appreciation. India’s billionaire wealth has increased by 42%, reaching Rs. 78,30,965 crore (US$ 905 billion), making it the world’s third-largest base for billionaires. The survey also reveals a rising interest in second homes, with 54% favoring hill or beachside locations. Thirty-six percent plan to invest in real estate, while 71% anticipate lower interest rates.
