Summary:

Gujarat is strengthening India's semiconductor ecosystem by establishing the Silicon and Advanced Semiconductor Manufacturing Research and Training Hub (SAMARTH) at IIT Gandhinagar with an investment of Rs. 190 crore (US$ 19.96 million). Jointly funded by MeitY, the Gujarat Government and IIT Gandhinagar, the hub will support research, innovation and workforce development in semiconductor manufacturing. It will provide advanced infrastructure and practical training for students, faculty, technicians and industry professionals, creating a pipeline of "fabready" engineers. SAMARTH will promote collaboration between academia, industry and government while enhancing technical expertise. The initiative supports India's goal of semiconductor self-reliance, strengthens domestic technological capabilities and boosts the longterm growth of the electronics manufacturing ecosystem.
