In FY25, India's mining sector produced record levels of major minerals and non-ferrous metals. Iron ore output totaled 289 million metric tons (MMT), a 4.3% increase over FY24's 277 MMT. Manganese ore production grew by 11.8% to 3.8 MMT, while bauxite rose by 2.9% to 24.7 MMT. Primary aluminum production increased to 42 lakh tons, while refined copper output surged by 12.6%. India is currently the world's second-largest aluminum producer and the fourth-largest producer of iron ore.
