Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh stated at the North Tech Symposium 2026 in Prayagraj that defense manufacturing had increased by 174% in ten years to ₹1.54 lakh crore (US$16.45 billion). India's transition from a significant importer to an emerging worldwide exporter of defense equipment was highlighted by the 34-fold increase in defense exports to ₹23,622 crore (US$2.52 billion). About ₹15,000 crore of exports come from the private sector. Domestic manufacturing has grown thanks to government assistance and legislative changes. The ₹6.81 lakh crore defense budget for 2026–2027 would improve national security readiness and cutting-edge technologies.
