Summary:
Following the India-New Zealand Free Trade Agreement, it is anticipated that India's engineering exports to New Zealand will quadruple in five years. Exports could increase to Rs. 1,890.8-2,836.2 crore (US$280-300 million) from Rs. 1,328.39 crore (US$140.5 million). The FTA lowers trade obstacles and increases competitiveness by granting Indian goods zero-duty access. According to EEPC India, the deal will provide steady market access, which will greatly help the engineering sector, particularly MSMEs. In 2025–2026, exports to New Zealand increased by 8% over the previous year. Cars, dairy equipment, scientific and medical equipment, and metal products are among the main exports. The agreement backs India's plan to use free trade agreements (FTAs) to increase international trade and diversify export markets.
