Summary:

India's overall exports, comprising goods and services, increased by 13.59% from April 2025 to Rs. 7.49 lakh crore (US$80.80 billion) in April 2026. Services exports grew to Rs. 3.45 lakh crore, while merchandise exports jumped 13.78% to Rs. 4.03 lakh crore. Although imports totalled Rs. 8.21 lakh crore, the trade deficit shrank to US$7.81 billion from US$11.16 billion in the previous year. Additionally, non-petroleum exports increased by 9.01%. Petroleum products, electronics, engineering items, meat, dairy and poultry products, and pharmaceuticals were the main industries propelling export development. The first month of 2026 saw a solid performance in external commerce, with petroleum exports rising 34.66%, electronic goods rising 40.31%, and engineering goods rising 8.76%.
