Summary:

India's green housing market is expanding as buyers and developers place a higher priority on affordability, efficiency, and sustainability. According to a Square Yards analysis, green homes can reduce energy expenses by 20–30% and water consumption by 30–50%. Despite the fact that there are more than 19,700 green projects, consumers are unable to compare their sustainability qualities using a uniform system. Square Yards and The Habitat Enterprise developed the Square Yards Green Living Index (SYGLI) to increase transparency. The framework evaluates projects across energy, water, environmental quality, resilience, and mobility factors utilising RERA data, developer disclosures, and geospatial intelligence. Green housing and trustworthy sustainability standards will promote healthier, climate-resilient urban living for the nation's long-term net-zero transition and future, because construction accounts for approximately one-third of India's emissions.
