Summary:
As a result of increased economic activity and better tax compliance, India's gross Goods and Services Tax (GST) receipts increased 13.9% year over year to Rs. 1.95 lakh crore in June 2026. After refunds, net GST collections rose 11.2% to Rs. 1.62 lakh crore. While domestic GST collections increased by 6.5%, GST revenue from imports increased by 34.6%. Business liquidity was supported by a 29.1% increase in refunds. Gross GST collections from April to June of FY27 were Rs. 6.32 lakh crore, an increase of 8.4% over the previous year. Uttar Pradesh had significant growth, but Maharashtra had the highest domestic GST collections. The steady increase demonstrates improved compliance, a more robust tax system, and growing formal economic activity throughout India.
