Summary:
According to JLL, investments in India's hotel industry totalled Rs. 1,635.94 crore (US$185 million) between January and March 2026, a 58% increase from the previous year. This contrasts with Rs. 989.36 crore during the same time last year, indicating high investor confidence fuelled by increased demand for travel, improved occupancy, and growing branded hotel infrastructure. Additionally, the industry continued to grow after 2025, when investments reached Rs. 5,010.88 crore, a 67% increase. Recent transactions included land monetisation, operating hotel investments, and acquisitions. For example, Warburg Pincus committed Rs. 945.62 crore to purchase a 41% share in Fleur Hotels. Due to robust liquidity, private equity interest, and land prospects connected to airports, JLL anticipates continuous expansion. Investments were concentrated on Tier-I cities, and branded hotel openings and signings rose dramatically throughout India.
