Summary:

India's automotive exports increased by 22% year on year in Q1 FY26, hitting 1,457,461 units, up from 1,192,566 previous year. Passenger car exports reached a record 204,330 units, up 13%. The Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) attributed the gain to consistent demand in worldwide markets, notably the Middle East, Latin America, Japan, and South Asia, as well as FTAs that increased sales to Australia. Maruti Suzuki led with 96,181 units, up more than 37%, and had a 47% market share. Hyundai followed with 48,140 units, up 13%. Two-wheeler exports increased by 23% to 1.13 million units, while commercial vehicle exports increased by the same percentage to 19,427 units. Three-wheeler exports increased 34% to 95,796 units in the April-June period.
