Summary:

A clinical trial dosage of an investigational vaccine against the Bundibugyo strain of Ebola is being produced by the Serum Institute of India in collaboration with the University of Oxford. The vaccine candidate, ChAdOx1 BDBV, is based on the same platform as the Oxford-AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine and has received up to US$8.6 million in financing from the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations. Preclinical research and Phase 1 clinical trial preparation will be supported by the funds. The experiment has received international attention because there is presently no licensed vaccination for this type of Ebola. In order to speed up vaccine development and improve global epidemic response capabilities, the alliance brings together Oxford's research experience, CEPI's preparedness activities, and SII's manufacturing capability.
