Summary:

Ms. Resham Talwar, a visually challenged voice artist, gained national attention after winning the Voice Acting category at the WAM! Anime and Manga Contest held in Delhi. With skills rooted in radio jockeying, voice work and audio editing, her story highlights how WAM! nurtures raw talent and opens doors to professional opportunities. The contest is an initiative by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, along with the Media and Entertainment Association of India, aimed at encouraging Indian creators to explore anime and manga. It spans 11 cities, leading up to a grand finale during the World Audio Visual Entertainment Summit 2025 in Mumbai.

WAVES 2025, taking place at Jio World Centre from 1 May to 4 May, is set to boost India’s media and entertainment sector. The vision is to grow the industry into a ₹4,29,400 crore (US$50 billion) global force by 2029. A key attraction is the Create in India Challenges, which has received more than 77,000 entries from 35 countries. Among them, 725 top creators, including WAM! participants, will present their work at the summit. India is now home to the second largest anime fan base in the world with 180 million fans. The Indian anime market, valued at ₹14,105 crore (US$1.64 billion) in 2023, is expected to grow to ₹43,249 crore (US$5.03 billion) by 2032. While the audience continues to expand, the talent pool still faces challenges. WAM! is working to close this gap through mentorship and hands-on experience with industry experts. Supported by names like BOB Pictures, ToonSutra, eTV Bal Bharat and Vaibhavi Studio, WAM! is quickly becoming a launchpad for aspiring storytellers. Artists like Ms. Angel Yadav and Mr. Randeep Singh are already making their mark, proving that WAM! is not just a contest but a platform that is reshaping India’s creative future and opening new paths for passionate talent.
