According to foundit's latest research, hiring in India increased by 10% in February 2025 compared to February 2024, driven by higher fresher recruitment. Skills-based hiring grew significantly, with job postings prioritizing competencies over qualifications, rising from 4% in 2023 to 14% in 2025. Fresher hiring rose by 6% month-on-month, led by the IT hardware and software industry, which quadrupled its share to 34%, while BFSI and BPO/ITeS saw declines. Tier 2 cities such as Nasik, Jaipur, Surat, Coimbatore, Indore, Kochi, Thane, Vadodara, Chandigarh, and Nagpur are emerging as key hiring destinations for fresh graduates. The animation and gaming industry saw a 15% year-on-year hiring increase, while the medical and healthcare sector grew by 8%. Pune led month-on-month hiring growth at 6.7%, followed by Ahmedabad at 6.3%. Mr. V. Suresh, CEO of foundit, emphasized the importance of skills and certifications for fresh graduates.
