India’s smartphone exports hit a record ₹25,000 crore (US$ 3.14 billion) in January 2025, a 140% increase from January 2024. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw projected FY25 exports to reach ₹2,25,000 crore (US$ 25.92 billion). Apple led with 70% of exports, with Foxconn, Tata Electronics, and Pegatron significantly contributing to this remarkable growth. India's smartphone export growth is driven by the Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme, which boosted competitiveness and attracted global firms like Apple to India. Exports rose from ₹26,914 crore in FY21 to ₹1,35,439 crore in FY24. By December 2024, smartphones became India’s second-largest export category, highlighting the country’s growing global significance.
