Fractional investment model

Summary:

Mr. Rajnath Singh, Union Minister of Defence, urged the private sector to move from 'participation' to 'leadership' in defence, assuring full government support to develop India as a powerhouse for innovation and technology. On October 18, 2024, he addressed key stakeholders at the Twaral DRDO-Industry Workshop on Defence Technology Acceleration, emphasizing the transition from conventional to unconventional warfare, including drones, cyber warfare, bioweapons, and space defence, and calling for increased creativity.

During the occasion, the 'Dare to Dream 5.0' initiative was launched to encourage next-generation innovators and start-ups to submit disruptive military applications. This follows the successful Technology Development Fund (TDF), which provides funding for up to 90% of project costs, capped at $5.9 million (Rs. 50 crores). Several innovations developed under TDF were transferred to the DRDO and Armed Forces, emphasizing self-reliance in defence and expediting vital technology development through cross-sector collaboration in Deep-Tech.
