Summary:

The Indian government intends to place one lakh youth in internships under the PM Internship Scheme by December 2. Registration is open for the top 500 organizations based on CSR spending, focusing on young hopefuls aged 21 to 24. On the first day of the pilot program, 111 organizations, including M&M and Alembic, registered to offer 1,079 internships, primarily in manufacturing and maintenance roles across Maharashtra, Telangana, Gujarat, and Uttarakhand.

 

Union Minister Nirmala Sitharaman introduced the PM Internship initiative, which provides US$ 786 (Rs. 66,000) to each intern and includes reservations for SC/STs, OBCs, and individuals with disabilities. Eligible candidates are those whose parents or spouse earn up to US$ 9,527 (Rs. 8 lakh), excluding IIT/IIM graduates and certain professionals. The pilot program costs US$ 95.90 million (Rs. 800 crore) and offers internships in the home districts of candidates. Registration is available from October 12 to 25, with selections made on November 7.
