Summary

The combined revenues of Indian DPSUs—HAL, BEL, and MDL—on SIPRI's Top 100 arms producers list rose by 6% in FY23 to $6.74 billion (₹56,769 crore) from $6.37 billion (₹53,973 crore) in FY22. HAL ranked 43rd, BEL saw modest growth, and MDL reported a 12.4% increase, advancing to 94th position globally.

 

Global arms revenues rose 4.2% in FY23, reaching $632 billion (₹53,54,936 crore), driven by regional conflicts and rearmament. Smaller producers adapted effectively to demand from the Ukraine war, East Asia tensions, and Gaza conflicts. U.S. firms dominated with $317 billion, while Chinese producers, affected by a slowing economy, recorded minimal growth at 0.7%.
