Summary:
According to a global assessment conducted by the Boston Consulting Group (BCG) and CO2 AI, India ranks third in the world for carbon emissions reporting and reduction, trailing only China and Brazil. The survey, titled Boosting Your Bottom Line Through Decarbonisation, discovered that 12% of Indian enterprises disclose emissions, which is above the global average of 9%. Furthermore, 24% of Indian corporations have established emission reduction objectives, exceeding the worldwide average of 16%. Additionally, 15% of Indian enterprises actively reduce emissions, compared to 11% globally.
The poll, now in its fourth year, demonstrates that decarbonisation provides significant financial advantages. Approximately 25% of corporations reported yearly gains exceeding 7% of their revenues, averaging a net benefit of $200 million. Lower operating costs, increased efficiency, and the deployment of renewable energy all contribute to these advantages. The research underlined AI's revolutionary potential, with organisations that use AI to reduce emissions being 4.5 times more successful. Experts emphasize that immediate action is critical as the timeframe for limiting global warming to 1.5°C shrinks.
