Summary:
India's data center industry is rapidly expanding, with 407 MW of IT capacity consumed and 191 MW built in key cities. This growth is driven by rising demand for cloud computing, big data, IoT, AI, e-commerce, and digital transformation. Hyperscalers, BFSI, IT & ITeS, and the service sector are all significant contributors. To support expansion, the industry acquired nearly 200 acres of land in cities like Mumbai, Hyderabad, Pune, Chennai, and Bengaluru in 2024.
India's data center market is expected to continue growing, with a demand for around 450 MW of IT capacity in 2025 and 600 MW in supply additions. The rise of 5G and mobile apps has increased demand for edge data centers in Tier-II and Tier-III cities, while Tier-I cities continue to expand. By 2030, India’s data center stock is projected to reach 3,400 MW IT, solidifying the country’s position as a global powerhouse.
