Summary:

As of October 21, approximately 14,000 Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Kendras (PMBJKs) have been established across India to provide affordable, high-quality generic medicines. The Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana (PMBJP) Scheme includes 2,047 medicines and 300 surgical devices, covering treatments for cardiovascular diseases, cancer, and diabetes. The initiative aims to improve accessibility and affordability of essential medicines through the establishment of dedicated PMBJK stores.

 

The National Programme for Prevention and Control of Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) focuses on cancer, diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, and stroke. The Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PMJAY) offers free or subsidised treatment for various conditions. The scheme, benefiting 55 crore people, provides annual health coverage of Rs. 5 lakh. Additionally, 218 AMRIT pharmacies offer discounted medicines, and cancer care infrastructure is enhanced through the establishment of State Cancer Institutes and Tertiary Cancer Care Centres.
