Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced plans to train 5,000 'Cyber Commandos' over the next five years to combat cybercrime. On the inaugural day of the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C), he also unveiled the 'Cyber Fraud Mitigation Centre' (CFMC). Shah emphasized the need for collaboration in addressing the global nature of cybercrime, stating, "The country's progress is not possible without cybersecurity." The program aims to establish specialized teams nationwide to enhance digital security efforts.

 

The I4C, founded on October 5, 2018, serves as a national hub for cybercrime coordination and will become an affiliated office of the Ministry of Home Affairs in July 2024. In 2023, 1,128,256 cybercrime incidents were recorded through the Citizen Financial Cyber Fraud Reporting Management System (CFCFMS). Uttar Pradesh had the highest number of complaints, while Maharashtra reported the largest financial fraud, totaling $117.9 million.
