India is prepared to lead the global 6G scene, according to Minister of Communications Ms. Jyotiraditya Scindia, who described the telecom sector as "aggressive" and "ambitious." At the India Mobile Congress and World Telecommunication Standardization Assembly (WTSA) 2024, she emphasized the Bharat 6G Alliance's objective of contributing at least 10% of patents to 6G standardization. Scindia praised the quick implementation of 5G, which achieved coverage in 98% of districts and 90% of villages in just 21 months.

 

She emphasized the significance of the Indian Mobile Congress and the International 6G Symposium in highlighting 6G advancements and establishing design principles for future telecommunications. Recent amendments to the Telecommunications Act 2023 aim to modernize India's telecom framework, focusing on satellite communications and cybersecurity. IMC 2024 is expected to attract over 400 exhibitors, nearly 900 startups, and representatives from more than 120 countries, with around 3,200 delegates attending the WTSA assembly, fostering innovation and showcasing India's emergence as a global telecom hub.
