Summary:

Amul, India's renowned dairy brand, is developing the world's largest curd production facility in Kolkata to expand its operations in West Bengal. With an investment of Rs. 600 crore (US$ 68.6 million), the facility will produce 10 lakh kilograms of curd and process 1.5 million litres of milk daily. Located in Sankrail Food Park, it will cater to the growing demand for local curd varieties such as 'tok doi' and 'mishti doi.’

Amul's new facility is a significant contribution to India's dairy industry under the White Revolution 2.0 initiative led by the Ministry of Cooperation. It strengthens the dairy cooperative movement in Bengal, enhancing Amul's market reach. As West Bengal's largest fresh milk brand, Amul sells over one million litres daily. Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation Ltd (GCMMF) recorded an 8% turnover increase in 2023-24, anticipates double-digit revenue growth, and exports to 50 countries.
