Summary:
The Government e-Marketplace (GeM) has added 170 new seed categories to provide access to high-quality agricultural and horticultural seeds ahead of the cropping season. This initiative makes nearly 8,000 seed varieties available for purchase by Central and State Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) and other governing bodies, ensuring compliance with government regulations and developed in collaboration with stakeholders such as state seed corporations and research organizations.
This deployment is part of GeM's objective to improve category-based procurement by increasing efficiency, reducing bidding time, and encouraging transparency and accountability. Ms. Roli Khare, Deputy CEO of GeM, advised vendors to take advantage of these new categories for government bids and urged seed businesses and state organizations to utilize them for cost-effective seed purchases.
